Week 4 Discussion
September 6, 2017
The theme of our lesson this week, which is from Galatians 3, is the blessing of Abraham (vv. 8, 9, 14). Why does Paul begin with Abraham? The reason is because God’s rescue plan begins with Abraham. Paul wanted the Galatians, and us too, to understand that we are the fulfillment of what God had intended all along. The fulfillment of this, God’s plan, is seen in the cross of Jesus Christ.

Galatians 3.13-14: Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”— 14 in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
