This week we follow John the Baptist to the Jordan River and hear his call: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” The word repent in this passage has as its meaning to reconsider, or to think differently. John’s call was certainly a call to the people of Jerusalem and Judea to reconsider the direction they were going, and to think differently about who God was calling them to be. But this call wasn’t only for them, it’s also for us. We too are called to reconsider the direction our life is going, and to think differently about who God is calling us to be.
Below is some information from this week’s lesson that you may find helpful.
Many Blessings!

Matthew 3.1-3: In those days John the Baptist came and preached in the Desert of Judea. He said, “Turn away from your sins! The kingdom of heaven has come near.” John is the one Isaiah the prophet had spoken about. He had said,
“A messenger is calling out in the desert,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord.
Make straight paths for him.’ ” (NIRV)
